# The 13 Jul 2012 by Deenesh Babi.
On the 24-27th June, 2012 Asociación Nacional De Químicos De España (ANQUE) held the 2nd International Congress of Chemical Engineering in Sevilla, Spain. Four persons from CAPEC attended the conference, one faculty (Professor Rafiqul Gani), one PhD (Deenesh K. Babi) and two Master of Science students (Alessandra Pennati and Elena F. Ballesteros).
Head of CAPEC, Professor Rafiqul Gani gave the opening plenary lecture for the conference on Monday 25th. His presentation was entitled ‘A new Paradigm for Chemical Engineering’. The lecture reviewed the current status of chemical engineering as a discipline, the proposals for the third paradigm and discussed if the time for such a paradigm shift has arrived?
The attending students had oral (Deenesh and Alessandra) and poster (Elena) presentations. Deenesh gave an oral presentation based on his PhD thesis entitled ‘Achieving Process Intensification from the Application of a Phenomenon Based Synthesis, Design and Intensification Methodology’, Alessandra gave an oral presentation based on her master thesis entitled ‘Synthesis of Industrial Water Networks’ and Elena gave a poster presentation on her master thesis entitled ‘Separation of Azeotropic Mixtures’. All presentations were well recieved and photos highlighting the conference can be seen below.
Information about ANQUE: ANQUE, the Spain’s leading organization for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering professionals, with over 11,000 members. ANQUE’s main aim is to promote and support professional development in Chemistry and Chemical Technology to move forward professionally and to enrich the world we live in.
